Suspect Arrested In PA Wells Fargo Bank Robbery: Police (Update)

A Wells Fargo Bank was robbed in Bucks County, police announced on Thursday, Oct. 31 at 10:14 a.m.

The suspected robber, later identified as Khalil William Butler, 30, of Sellersville, was arrested in the area of Avenue A and West Street in Doylestown Borough, the Central Bucks Regional Police Department said.

Butler entered the bank and told an employee that he wanted to make a cash withdrawal, according to police. He then instructed the employee to place his hands on the desk as Butler lifted his shirt to display a firearm.

The employee and the bank's manager were then told to get $32,000 in cash out of the safe, which Butler placed into a brown paper bag, police said. Butler fled on a bicycle wearing a "distinctive jacket."

Officers were called to the scene at 9:09 a.m., according to police. By 9:22 a.m., Butler was found and arrested on Avenue A. The money was recovered at this time.

Butler's jacket and firearm were recovered from a recycling bin in the Westwyk Condominium neighborhood, police said.

No additional suspects are being sought, according to police.

Butler was charged with:

  • Felony Robbery - Demand Money From Financial Institution.
  • Felony Receiving Stolen Property.
  • Felony Robbery - Threaten Immediate Serious Injury (four counts).
  • Felony Theft by Unlawful Taking - Movable Property.
  • Misdemeanor Terroristic Threats.

He is being held in Bucks County Prison on $1 million bail, court documents state. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Monday, Nov. 18.
