A Williamsport man was arrested after a girl woke up naked in his home while being strangled, according to court documents obtained by Daily Voice on Monday, Sept. 30.
Nicholas Allyn Peterson, 22, of Williamsport, was charged with raping and attempting to strangle a girl on Tuesday, Sept. 24, the Williamsport Bureau of Police detailed in the affidavit of probable cause.

A former mayor of Wildwood admitted to his role in a healthcare fraud scheme that stole more than $600,000 in government funds, authorities said.
Peter Byron, 68, pleaded guilty to three charges on Friday, Sept. 27, Attorney General Matthew Platkin said in a news release on Monday, Sept. 30. Byron resigned as mayor in September 2023 after he was indicted in the case.

A Milford man was recently charged for soliciting explicit photographs of a child, police announced on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Rashaad K. Taylor, 28, of Milford, was arrested in Pike County, on Sept. 20, according to the police.
The arrest comes following an investigation into alleged unlawful contact with minors, the Slate Belt Regional Police Department said. A Hazleton woman's death was the result of a house fire, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office announced on Monday, Sept. 30.

A schoolgirl was the victim of a strong-armed robbery while she was waiting for her bus in Cheltenham Township, the police announced on Friday, Sept. 27.
