Maureen Simonetta, 55, was behind the wheel of a silver Dodge Caravan speeding along Wood Avenue when she lost control and struck a guide rail before slamming into a stopped vehicle at the Northampton Street intersection, according to Palmer Township police. She then continued forward and crashed into a utility pole, authorities said.
Officers responded to the three-vehicle crash with injuries at 8:29 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5, and determined Simonetta was intoxicated, police said. She was taken to a local hospital for treatment and further testing.
During the investigation, officers discovered Simonetta had an active bench warrant for DUI, authorities said.
She was arraigned before Magistrate Susan Hutnik on Wednesday, Feb. 19, and committed to Northampton County Prison on $7,500 bail with 10 percent, according to court records.
