Penn State York Could Close As University System Announces Major Cuts Penn State University will close some of its Commonwealth Campuses as part of a major restructuring effort, citing declining enrollment and shifting demographics across Pennsylvania. Penn State President Neeli Bendapudi announced the decision in a letter on Tuesday, Feb. 25. The university's 19th president said the system can no longer sustain all of its Commonwealth schools, which operate as satellites of the main State College campus. PA Woman Who Shot, Dismembered Parents With Chainsaw Sentenced: DA An Abington woman charged with shooting her parents and dismembering their bodies with a chainsaw was sentenced Monday, Sept. 30, the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office told Daily Voice the following day. Verity Beck, 45, pleaded "guilty but mentally ill" to two first-degree murder counts, the district attorney's office said. She was given two life sentences that will be served concurrently.  Beck will also receive mental health treatment while serving her prison time, according to the district attorney's office.
