The vandalism happened on Monday, March 24, while the victim was inside Planet Fitness in Doylestown, according to the Central Bucks Regional Police Department.
The victim told police they noticed the damage — a swastika scratched into the side of their white Tesla SUV — after returning home. They then checked the car’s built-in 24-hour security cameras, which captured the incident around 9:24 a.m., police said.
In the footage, a white male suspect in a silver Lexus is seen pulling up next to the Tesla. The man ducks behind the car and appears to scratch something into the side with an unknown object, police said.
Police said the man was described as approximately 5-foot-9, wearing a gray beanie, sweatpants, black puffer coat, and carrying a blue and red bag with white stripes.
Planet Fitness staff were able to match the suspect to their gym membership records, police said. Surveillance footage from the gym shows the same man walking in at 9:24 a.m., wearing the same clothing and carrying the same bag, according to the report.
He scanned his membership card at the front desk, and investigators later confirmed his identity through his Pennsylvania driver's license photo, authorities said.
A criminal complaint has been filed. The suspect has been charged with:
- Criminal Mischief (M2)
- Harassment (M3)
- Harassment (S)
- Disorderly Conduct (S)
