Pedestrian Struck, Killed In Early Morning Crash In Allentown: Coroner

A woman was killed after she was struck by a vehicle in Allentown early Monday morning, April 7, officials announced on Wednesday, April 9.

The pedestrian, later identified as 69-year-old Christie C. Tito of Allentown, was hit near the intersection of Hamilton Street and South Franklin Street around 5:30 a.m., according to the Lehigh County Coroner’s Office.

Tito was rushed to Lehigh Valley Hospital–Cedar Crest, where she was pronounced dead at 9:29 a.m., officials said.

An autopsy determined her cause of death to be blunt force injuries due to a pedestrian/motor vehicle accident. Her manner of death has been ruled an accident, the coroner's office said.

The Allentown Police Department’s Traffic Reconstruction Unit and the Lehigh County District Attorney’s Office are investigating the crash alongside the coroner’s office.
