PA State Police troopers were called to "a report of a deceased 13-year-old juvenile" in the 300 block of Britton Road in Shippensburg around 2:08 p.m., as stated in the release. The area is near the Shippensburg Township Ball Complex as seen on Google Maps.
"There are no other details available at this time," PSP Trooper H PIO Megan Frazer said.
The investigation is ongoing.
The Shippensburg School District has confirmed this was the death of a middle school student.
"It is with great sadness that we inform you of the tragic death of a member of our school community, a student at the Middle School."
School counselors are available for students affected by this tragedy.
