A federal prisoner from York has been indicted for possessing a shank in a Pennsylvania facility, authorities said. Anthony Gilbert-Brown, 29, a federal inmate incarcerated at FCI Schuylkill in Minersville, was indicted Wednesday, Aug. 28 by a federal grand jury on the charge of possession of a weapon, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office. The indictment charges Gilbert-Brown with possessing a prohibited object designed to be used as a weapon, commonly known as a “shank," according to U.S. Attorney Gerard M. Karam. An arrest warrant has been issued for a convicted sex offender who failed to register with Pennsylvania State Police, according to a release by the Erie County District Attorney's Office on Friday, Aug. 30. Russell Edward Mason, 44, failed to register as a sex offender, after he was convicted in March 2013 of raping a child and importuning a child in Dec. 2012, according to the PSP Megan's Law Sex Offender Registry. Convicted Killer Pleads Guilty To Escape Charges After Eluding Authorities For Weeks In PA
A convicted killer who eluded authorities for nearly two weeks last year in Pennsylvania has pleaded guilty to escape charges, authorities said. A nationwide manhunt for Danilo Cavalcante, 35, a native of Brazil, ended on Sept. 13, 2023, with his capture. He was found hiding under foliage within a search perimeter in northern Chester County, as previously reported by Daily Voice. Pedestrian ID'd After Fatal Hit-Run Strike Near Dutch Wonderland: Coroner
The pedestrian who was fatally struck by a vehicle outside a hotel near multiple amusement parks has been identified by the Lancaster County Coroner on Friday, Aug. 30. John Zimmerman, 72, original of Lititz but recently of Lancaster, died at the scene of the strike at 2270 Lincoln Highway East at Fairfield Inn, according to the coroner. The 26-year-old man struck and killed by a train in Lehigh County is being remembered for his love for everyone. Angel Luis Rivera Jr. of Alburtis died at about 9:50 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 25 after being struck by the train, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. Six partiers were rescued from a sinking 20-foot boat on the Schuylkill River in Southeast Philadelphia, authorities said. At about 12:30 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 29, first responders got a call from one of the boaters who said their vessel was taking on water at the Platt Bridge, the U.S. Coast Guard reported. Soeed was the contributing factor in a crash that killed three people on Friday, Aug. 23 in Hatboro, authorities said.
