Rabid Bear Attacks Man In Pennsylvania (Video)
A black bear that bit and scratched a man in Pennsylvania has tested positive for rabies, Pennsylvania Game Commission officials announced on Thursday, Jan. 23.
The bear-human conflict occurred on Sunday, Jan. 19, in Jim Thorpe, Carbon County, the commission said in a release. The adult male bear aggressively approached the man, exhibiting abnormal behavior before biting and scratching him, according to officials.

A Palmerton man is accused of firing bullets at another driver during a road rage incident in Lynn Township, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Thursday, Jan. 23.
The incident happened along the 5600 block of Schochary Road, on Monday, Nov. 11, 2024, around 10:20 p.m., police said.
John C. Miles allegedly fired two rounds from a .380 handgun at a pickup truck while driving his SUV, striking the bed of the victim's vehicle.

A Dauphin County woman pleaded guilty this week to driving a school van under the influence of prescription drugs while transporting students, prosecutors said.
Heather Elaine Shumberger, 41, of Lower Paxton Township, admitted to multiple charges, including DUI, recklessly endangering another person, and endangering the welfare of children, during a court hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 21, according to the Lancaster County District Attorney's Office.

Harrisburg Manhunt Ends: Lateef Phoenix Arrested For Fatal Shooting
Lateef Phoenix, 38, who was wanted in connection with the fatal shooting of 34-year-old Darius Stukes near Hunter and Nectarine streets in Harrisburg, has been captured, authorities announced on Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025.
Phoenix was taken into custody by the Harrisburg Bureau of Police and the U.S. Marshals Service, according to a police release.
The charges against Phoenix include first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, possession of a firearm prohibited, and carrying a firearm without a license.
