Mikael Nihart, 25, of Pottstown, was riding a motorcycle west on Route 724 near Red Corner Road in Union Township, Berks County, when a deer ran out in front of him on Saturday, Nov. 2, according to a Pennsylvania State Police report.
Nihart was thrown from the motorcycle and struck a guiderail, the police report states. He was taken to Reading Hospital where he died from his injuries with his mother, Amy Hartman, by his side on Monday, Nov. 4.
"With the heaviest of hearts, I am writing to ask for friends and family to come together through this tragic time," a GoFundMe campaign for the family states.
"We would love to take the burden off his mother and family of worrying about finances at this time so they can all prepare to begin learning a new way of life," Alex Kandler, the campaign's organizer, wrote.
He is survived by his mother, Amy Hartman; daughter, Paisley Nihart; Crystal Hodkinson, Paisley's mother; and four brothers, according to his obituary, courtesy of Catagnus Funeral Home.
Nihart loved riding motorcycles, boxing, and playing football, his obituary states. He was a member of several organizations, including King Street Kickboxing and Muaythai, Infamous Ryders Motor Cycle Club, and the Bad News Bears.
Friends and family paid tribute to Nihart on Facebook.
"My prayers go out to Míkael Nihart's family. Sending you all my love," one post reads.
"May Mikael Nihart's memory motivate us, his impact stays with us forever. We'll hold you close to our hearts at King St., Kickboxing and Muaythai," another post said.
"Please keep our family in your prayers as this is very hard for all of us," one post states. "He leaves a 2-year-old daughter."
A memorial visitation will be held at Catagnus Funeral Home located at 711 North Franklin Street, Pottstown from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 11, according to the obituary. A time of sharing remembrances will follow.
The GoFundMe campaign has raised $6,437 of its $10,000 goal as of Thursday, Nov. 7.
