Cybersecurity Issue Hits Giant Company, Food Lion, Other Supermarkets, Parent Company Says
A cybersecurity “issue” has led the parent company of a supermarket chain to disconnect some systems to protect them.
Ahold Delhaize USA said it recently detected a cybersecurity issue within its US network.
"Immediately upon detecting the issue, our security teams began an investigation with the assistance of external cybersecurity experts," the company said. "We also notified law enforcement."
The move affects:
Stop & Shop, which has around 400 locations in New England, New York, and New Jersey;
Hannaford, with stores in eastern upstate New York and New England;

A student at a Chester County school is in trouble with police after a knife fell out of their backpack, according to the Pennsylvania State Police.
Troopers were called to the Avon Grove Charter School, located at 110 East State Road, West Grove, at about 11:18 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 9, state police said.

Captured: Norristown Police Nab Man Wanted In Machete Attack, Upper Merion PD Says
With help from Norristown police, a man wanted in a machete attack was taken into custody Wednesday morning, Sept. 11 without incident, authorities said.
Edward Gomery, 56, is suspected in "an aggravated assault involving a machete" on another man he knew on Aug. 27, Upper Merion police said on Monday, Sept. 9. The attack caused "significant injuries" to the victim, police said.

Trooper Shoots Man Dead During Standoff At Trailer Park: PA State Police
A Pennsylvania state trooper shot a man dead during a standoff at a mobile home park on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Lycoming County, authorities said.
The officer-involved shooting remains under investigation pending an autopsy on Monday, Sept. 9, they said.
