A former Connecticut high school teacher has been accused of sexually assaulting a former student, authorities said. Ciara Picard, 39, was arrested and charged with five counts of sexual assault involving a former student of Maloney High School in Meriden, police announced on Tuesday, Dec. 9. Meriden police did not provide many details about the alleged abuse, but investigators said it happened "years ago" while Picard was still a teacher at the school. Twenty-one people were hospitalized after a school bus carrying Aliquippa Junior High football players crashed on Shaffer Road in Economy Borough, Beaver County EMS said. Police, fire, and EMS were called to the 190 block of Shaffer Road for the crash involving a bus with students and staff from the Aliquippa School District around 10 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 23, according to officials. Students Targeted With Racial Texts In PA School District
Officials are investigating after several Montgomery County students were the targets of explicitly racist text messages that were also sent to Black and Brown students in several states since Election Day. The incidents occurred in the Lower Merion School District on Thursday, Nov. 7, according to a school district news release. Six students at the middle school level received the message. A 12-year-old student is in the hospital after the were struck by a passing car while crossing the street to get on the school bus, East Cocalico Township Police announced on Wednesday, Oct.23.
