A Slate Belt Regional Police officer was injured in a head-on crash in Plainfield Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Monday, Aug. 18.
The collision happened at approximately 2:17 a.m. on Sunday, Aug. 17, 2025, when troopers from the Bethlehem station were called to 1016 West Pennsylvania Avenue for a reported crash, according to invesigators.

New Travel Advisory Issued By State Department For Mexico: Here's Why
The US State Department has issued updated travel guidance for one of America’s closest neighbors, citing a mix of safety risks for visitors.
The advisory that went live on Tuesday, Aug. 12 applies to Mexico, where officials say travelers should “exercise increased caution” because of threats that include terrorism, crime, and kidnapping.
It is classified as Level 2 on the agency’s four-tier alert system, which ranges from Level 1 (“exercise normal precautions”) to Level 4 (“do not travel”).

Pedestrian Struck Dead On PA Rt 144 ID’d: PA State Police
A 73-year-old man was killed when he was struck by a car in Snow Shoe Township, Centre County, Pennsylvania State Police announced on Monday, Aug. 11.
Thomas Hipple, of Snow Shoe, was crossing State Route 144 near 730 E. Sycamore Road when a 2016 Hyundai Accent hit him head-on around 9:09 a.m., troopers said.
The two-lane asphalt road is posted at 45 mph and divided by a double yellow line, according to investigators.
Hipple was pronounced dead at the scene. His body came to rest in the grass on the north side of the road, facing west, police said.

Helicopter Responds To Trash Truck Crash With Entrapment In PA (Developing)
A helicopter responded after a crash involving multiple vehicles, including a trash truck, left at least one person trapped in Dover Township early Monday, July 28, authorities announced.
The wreck happened around 6:04 a.m. in the 6000 block of Davidsburg Road between Paradise Road and Pine Hill Road, according to York County emergency dispatch.
Rescue Squad 9, Engine 9-2, and EMS are on location of the wreck, which involved reported injuries and entrapment, the Dover Township Fire Department said.
