Amy Travers, a teacher at Saint Francis of Assisi School was struck by a vehicle while helping students in the car line at Saint Kevin Parish School, 200 West Sproul Road, Springfield Township, according to Facebook posts by both schools.

"One of our beloved teachers was struck by a car while helping with the car line for our little ones at SFA," the post by Saint Francis Assisi states. "She is such a fantastic educator and an even better person. Pray for Amy Travers and her family."

During dismissal, a car struck stationary vehicles that were waiting to pick up students, Ken Gavin, Chief Communications Officer for the Archdiocese of Philadelphia told Daily Voice via email. The driver is not connected to the school.

The teacher was pinned underneath a vehicle, according to Gavin, who said he was not at liberty to provide the teacher's name. The teacher was extricated by first responders and was transported to a local hospital.

"We are praying that the teacher will recover fully and quickly and express deep gratitude to all those who responded to this incident," Gavin said.

An NBC 10 News report said a student had received minor scrapes to the face and didn't require hospitalization, but no students were struck, according to Gavin.

Teachers and students from Saint Francis of Assisi are operating out of other Catholic schools following a two-alarm fire that happened at the school, located at 112 Saxer Avenue, on Monday, Oct. 7, prior reporting by Daily Voice states.
