The cold and cozy nights are here to stay, with temps expected to dip into the 30s across parts of New Jersey and Pennsylvania Wednesday night, Oct. 16, but with summer-like temps expected over the weekend, forecasters said. The family of the New Jersey Transit train operator killed by a fallen tree is planning to sue several organizations for negligence, an attorney said. Jessica Haley of Levittown, Pennsylvania, was identified as the person who died in the crash, according to a news release from the Anapol Weiss law firm on Thursday, Oct. 15. A woman killed in a hit-and-run crash was struck hard enough that the wheelchair she was in shattered into multiple pieces, Philadelphia police said. The crash happened in the 2200 block of Reservoir Drive at 1:46 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 15, according to the Philadelphia Police Department. Big Lots To Close 5 More Pennsylvania Stores
Things have gotten worse for the discount retailer Big Lots. The national chain was previously set to close approximately 300 stores, then they decided to close 40 more, but following a new filing with the Securities & Exchange Commission on Friday, Oct. 4, the impending closure of another 150 stores nationwide has been announced. More than two years after a UPenn student from New Jersey died, her family has settled their wrongful death suit against Panera.
