Dylan Ruppert, 29, of Halifax, was sentenced to 97 months behind bars after investigators found 65 files of child sexual exploitation on his phone, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Middle District of Pennsylvania announced on Saturday, Feb. 22.
Federal and state agents raided Ruppert’s home on Aug. 11, 2023, and not only discovered the explicit images but also chilling messages in which he allegedly discussed grooming a child for sexual abuse, prosecutors detailed.
Ruppert was sentenced on Thursday, Feb. 20, by U.S. District Court Judge Jennifer P. Wilson.
The case was investigated by the Pennsylvania State Police and FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney David C. Williams and former Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Erin Varley.
