Breaking: Man Killed GF's 3-Year-Old Son, Berks DA Announces A Lycoming County man has been arrested and charged with murder in the 2021 death of his girlfriend's 3-year-old son, authorities in Berks County announced on Thursday, Oct. 10. Elijah Matias, 23, of Cogan Station, is believed to have caused the boy's multiple internal and external injuries in various stages of healing found in an autopsy in January 2021, the DA's office said. The cause of death was determined to have been blunt force trauma resulting in lacerations to the victim’s liver, mesentery, and pancreas. Amish Horse-Buggy Crash Closed PA 340: PennDOT A horse-and-buggy crash closed part of PA 340 in Lancaster County on Thursday evening, Sept. 19, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler told Daily Voice.  The horse-and-buggy and vehicle collided at the intersection of PA 340 and School Lane Road in the Salisbury Township, Gap area around 6:30 p.m. The road was completely closed "due to the vehicle rolling over," Schreffler said. The crash happened around 3:40 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 14 in Kidder Township near mile marker 279, according to Pennsylvania State Police.
