Lackawanna County Man Is 2nd Victim Killed By Home Explosion: Coroner
A second victim has died from injuries following a home explosion in Lackawanna County, authorities said. Leon W. Gruss, 91, of Jefferson Township, was pronounced dead on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 12:38 a.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, according to Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio. The cause of death is 51% burns to the body due to the explosion and house fire, Buglio said. Pottstown Man, 60, Dies From Burns Suffered In House Fire: Coroner
A 60-year-old man from Pottstown died of burns suffered in a house fire, authorities said. John Roddenberry was pronounced dead on Sunday, Aug. 18, at about 3:20 p.m. at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest, according to the Lehigh County Coroner. The cause of death was burns over more than 50 percent of his body, the coroner said. The fire occurred on Sunday, Aug. 18 at approximately 1:30 a.m. in the 15 Block of W. 3rd Street, Pottstown. In addition to the coroner's office, the Pottstown Borough Police Department and the Pottstown Fire Department are investigating.

A historical one-school house caught fire on Friday night, Aug. 2, according to Lancaster County Wide Communications. The call to 911 about the fire at the Bunker Hill School/Strasburg Township Municipal Building came into LCWC at 7:35 p.m., dispatchers told Daily Voice. Emergency crews were called to the blaze at the intersection of Shaub, Deiter, and Bunker Hill roads in Strasburg Township. Homeowner Set Fire To Berwyn Residence, DA Says
The two-alarm fire at a Berwyn home last week was set intentionally by the owner, prosecutors believe. Kathryn Frankel, 41, is charged with arson, criminal mischief, and related counts, said the Chester County District Attorney's Office on Wednesday, July 31. The fire was "well-advanced" by the time authorities arrived at the 400 block of Leopard Road around 11 a.m. on July 23, Berwyn Fire Company said previously. Dow Chemical Building Catches Fire In Bristol
Crews responded to a blaze at the Dow Research & Development facility in Bristol on Friday morning, July 26, according to a statement from the company. The fire broke out at the 310 George Patterson Boulevard site around 10:30 a.m., a Dow spokesperson said. Man Critically Hurt In South Philly Fire, Officials Say
An apartment caught fire on Thursday, July 18, sending one man to the hospital with serious injuries, Philadelphia police said. The blaze happened above a vacant barber shop on the 1900 block of South 22nd Street around 9 a.m., authorities wrote in a release. The home was "engulfed in flames" when first responders arrived. Crews Respond To Early Morning Fire In Easton
Firefighters were at the scene of a three-alarm blaze in Easton on Friday, July 5. Forks Township fire officials said they were called to Lehigh and South 11th streets around 2 a.m. Dewey Fire Company said they assisted with suppression, search, overhaul, and cleanup and were at the site until 5 a.m. WFMZ reports the blaze spread to multiple apartments and said that one person was taken to the hospital. Three people were killed in a two-vehicle crash on US Route 1 outside Media on Tuesday morning, according to officials. The crash happened on US Rt 1 South near the ramp to Route 252 (Providence Road) around 8 a.m. on July 2, authorities say.
