The bicyclist who died in a crash on Wednesday, July 17, was a doctor at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, according to police and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia website. Barbara Ann Friedes, 30, was struck from behind by a 2018 Volkswagen on the 1800 block of Spruce Street around 7 p.m., Philadelphia police wrote in a release. The Volkswagen then hit three parked cars before coming to a rest, police continued. A woman and her young child were hospitalized Tuesday evening, June 25 when a car struck them as they crossed the street, said Philadelphia police. Patrol Car Strikes 5-Year-Old Girl, Philadelphia Police Say
A child was hospitalized after being struck by a police car in Southwest Philadelphia on Tuesday night, June 4, authorities say. A patrol officer hit a 5-year-old girl on the 1600 block of South Ithan Street just before 7:30 p.m., PPD said. One person was hospitalized after being struck by a bus in Philadelphia's Hunting Park on Monday night, May 27. SEPTA said it happened near the corner of 13th Street and Erie Avenue around 9 p.m. The pedestrian was hit by the left side mirror of a Route 56 bus, according to transit officials.
