Tanker Fire Closes I-81 South In Cumberland County—Truck Was Carrying Acetone (Update) A tanker fire shut down Interstate 81 southbound at the Route 581 split in Cumberland County on Tuesday evening, Feb. 11, officials said. The fire broke out around 6:30 p.m., prompting closures of I-81 south at Exit 59 (PA 581 East/US 11 – Camp Hill) and the ramp from 581 west to I-81 south, according to PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler. Crews quickly extinguished the cab fire, and the tanker— which was carrying acetone— did not explode, Schreffler said. The ramp from 581 west to I-81 south reopened earlier in the evening. Multi-Vehicle Crash Partially Closes I-81 In Central PA: PennDOT (Developing) A multi-vehicle crash involving a tractor-trailer has led to lane restriction on Interstate 81, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler told Daily Voice on Friday, Aug. 9.  The crash happened on I-81 South in the center and right lane at mm 58.3 around 4:40 p.m., according to Schreffler.  The lane restriction is at Exit 59: Route 581 East to Route 11: Camp Hill, according to PennDOT's 511PA. PSP and Beltway Patrol are on the scene.  No injuries have been reported at the time of publishing.  Check back here for possible updates.
