New Update: Potent System With Strong Winds, Thunderstorms Now Sweeping Across East Coast A powerful cross-country storm is now sweeping through the East Coast, bringing heavy rain, thunderstorms, and strong gusty winds that could cause power outages. The sprawling system arrived Wednesday afternoon, March 5. A radar image of the East Coast above from around 6:30 p.m. shows areas where there are thunderstorms (in orange) and heavy rain (in yellow).
