A teenager has been arrested in connection with a shooting at the Eagles NFC Championship celebration in Center City, Philadelphia police announced on Wednesday, Jan. 29.
Amere Wright, 18, was identified as the suspected gunman who shot a 20-year-old man in the lower abdomen and hip at 1300 Chestnut Street around 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, authorities said.
The victim, who approached officers assigned to the Eagles Crowd Detail, was rushed to Jefferson Hospital, where he was listed in stable condition, police said.

Temple Freshman, Gymnast Dies After Fall From Light Post In Philadelphia
A Temple University freshman died after falling from a light pole in Philadelphia while celebrating the Eagles’ victory on Sunday, Jan. 26, school officials said.
Tyler Sabapathy, 18, was critically injured over the weekend and later passed away on Monday, Temple University President John Fry said in a statement.
“The loss of a promising 18-year-old man like Tyler is both tragic and traumatic. There are no words that can make sense of it, and the entire Temple community mourns his passing,” Fry said.

A Philadelphia man is accused of stabbing another man in the face during a dispute at Dilworth Plaza, police announced on Tuesday, Dec. 31.
Azariah Ellerba, also known as Corbin Ellerbe, 34, of the 300 block of South Broad Street, has been charged with aggravated assault, possession of an instrument of crime, simple assault, and recklessly endangering another person, police said.

13-Year-Old, 34-Year-Old Critically Injured In Highway Shooting: Philadelphia Police
A shooting near 100 Oregon Avenue in South Philadelphia left a teenager and a man critically injured on Wednesday night, Dec. 25, authorities said.
Police said the incident occurred around 7:51 p.m. on the highway. A 13-year-old boy was struck once in the left hand and was taken to Jefferson Hospital by responding officers.
The second victim, a 34-year-old Black man, suffered multiple gunshot wounds, including two to the stomach, one to the neck, three to the arm, and one to the hip. He drove himself to the University of Pennsylvania Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
