Cold CASE: Former Police Chief Shot Dead With Own Gun In Schuylkill County More than 40 years later, state police are still working to solve the New Philadelphia murder of Joseph Mickonis.  The 58-year-old former borough police chief was found with a gunshot wound to the head at his 167 Kimber Street home, according to troopers and a contemporaneous report from the Allentown Morning Call.  Mickonis, by then a part-time officer for Blythe Township police, was discovered by his 16-year-old son and taken to Good Samaritan Hospital in Pottsville, the newspaper reported. Cold Case: Nephew Found Lehigh Valley Woman Murdered In Her Home Pennsylvania State Police are asking for the public's help to find Rose Josephine Hnath's killer.  The 78-year-old was found murdered on the floor of her North Whitehall home on Jan. 21, 1989, troopers said.  Her nephew had gone over to check on her around 7:30 p.m. after she was uncharacteristically absent from a church service that morning, according to a 2011 Allentown Morning Call report.  She was stabbed and beaten to death and her house had been ransacked, authorities said. Human Remains ID'd As Pennsylvania Man Missing Since 2012: Coroner A Monroe County man who went missing more than a decade ago died from a gunshot wound to the head, according to officials.  The remains of Stephen C. Lepore were unearthed at 95 Peet Road in Dreher Township, Wayne County, said the Coroner's Office.  The skeletal remains were discovered by an unknown party on Tuesday morning, Oct. 17, and identified as Lepore using dental records on Thursday, Oct. 19, Coroner Edward R.
