Metal Arrow Pierces Through Cat's Head In Lancaster County Town, Police Say
Police are investigating after a cat was found with a metal arrow pierced through its head last week in Lancaster County, they said. Pequea Township police were called to a home on the 100 block of West Willow Road where a resident had found the cat on Thursday, July 25, local police said. ORCA was contacted and took the animal for treatment. The arrow was removed from the cat, who remains under the care of ORCA as it recovers. 6 Years After Retirement Beloved Central PA Police Sgt., Ast. Fire Chief Dies By Suicide
A beloved central Pennsylvania policeman has died by suicide six years after retirement. Sgt. J. Donald “J.D.” Shaeffer served with the Lancaster Bureau of Police for 25 years before retiring in August 2016, according to police officials. He began his career with the Bureau in 1991 as a patrolman and worked his way up to sergeant by 2007, officials with the Bureau said in a statement. 'Pedal Responsibly,' Police Warn After New Danville Pike Bicycle Crash
A 66-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized with moderate injuries after being struck by a car on New Danville Pike in Pequea Tuesday evening, local police said. The Millerville cyclist was heading south when a 29-year-old driver from Denver struck him from behind on the 2100 block around 5 p.m. The driver was not injured.
