School Names Mom, Daughter Killed By Apparent Carbon Monoxide Poisoning School officials have named two of the three family members who died in an apparent carbon monoxide poisoning incident in Northeast Philadelphia this week.  They were mother and daughter Maricel Martinez, 47, and Angelina Cardona, 12, said Saint Albert the Great Catholic School of Huntingdon Valley in a statement.  "Our Hearts are broken as we try to cope with the loss of our wonderful teacher and friend as well as her sweet daughter, a student in our 5th grade," administrators wrote.  "Mrs. Martinez, we will always remember your kindness and confidence exhibited in you…

Philadelphia Police Name Officer Killed In Airport Shooting (Updated) Two Philadelphia police officers were shot — one fatally — while in the parking garage at the Philadelphia International Airport on Thursday night. Officer Richard Mendez, a 50-year-old with 22 years in the department, was hit multiple times and died from his wounds, PPD brass said at a Friday evening press conference.  Officer Raul Ortiz, 60, was hit once in the arm and is in stable condition at Jefferson Hospital, according to Interim Commissioner John Stanford.
