Tornadoes Possible, Severe Thunderstorm Watch Issued For All Of NJ, Parts Of PA
The National Weather Service issued a severe thunderstorm watch for all of New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania to close out Memorial Day. The NWS said tornadoes, heavy rain, and wind gusts up to 65 mph were possible through 9 p.m. The first round of storms came early Monday morning, May 27. A new storm system tracking along the East Coast is expected to drop several inches of rain on the region in the next two days, meteorologists say. Rainfall is expected to begin along the mid-Atlantic Tuesday night, Dec. 26, and make its way north through Pennsylvania, New Jersey and the New York City area on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 27. Three tornadoes have been confirmed to have touched down in Central Pennsylvania on Monday, Aug. 7, the National Weather Service confirmed on Friday, Aug. 18, 2023. According to NWS, the first tornado started near the south side of North Church Street in Black Rock around 5:02 p.m. and ended around 5:05 p.m. near Glenville Road. A pair from Eastern Pennsylvania were charged in an undercover prostitution investigation, WFMZ reports. Candace Pickering, 49, went to meet a potential customer who claimed they would pay $300 for sex at a Poconos hotel Wednesday, June 1, the outlet says citing the Monroe County District Attorney's Office. Philly Fugitive On US Marshals 'Top 10' List Captured After NJ Standoff: Report
One of the US Marshals' "10 Most Wanted Homicide Fugitives" in Eastern Pennsylvania has been captured in South Jersey, NJ Advance Media reported. Ramonte Foster, 18, of Philadelphia, was arrested Tuesday, May 17 when a Salem City police officer spotted him outside a home on Morrison Avenue at about 7:30 p.m., the outlet said. The National Weather Service has confirmed a tornado touched down in Lehigh County during Thursday's storm -- making that the eighth across New Jersey and eastern Pennsylvania.
