An elderly couple killed when their home exploded in Western Pennsylvania on Tuesday has been identified, officials announced. David Mitchell Jr. 89 and his 87-year-old wife Helen Mitchell died in the blast in the 1400 block of Riverview Road in Crescent Township, Allegheny County, according to the Allegheny County medical examiner. The was felt about a mile away just before 9 a.m. on March 12, officials told the press at a news conference at 11:30 a.m. that day. A hazmat team has been called to the York City Sewer Plant due to a possible gas leak, according to York County Emergency Management. The call about a potential methane gas leak came into dispatch at 9:17 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 2. Emergency crews quickly responded to the plant located at 1701 Blackbridge Road, Manchester Township. Gas Leak Forces Building Evacuations In Red Lion
A gas leak led to evacuations in Red Lion, York County, according to Emergency Dispatch Services. Evacuations of buildings happened along the 200 block of Martin Street around 11:30 a.m., says dispatch. Police have blocked off the area between Pine Street and Horace Mann Avenue where the gas leak was detected. Columbia Gas is on the scene repairing gas lines under the sidewalk.
