The bicyclist who died in a crash on Wednesday, July 17, was a doctor at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, according to police and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia website. Barbara Ann Friedes, 30, was struck from behind by a 2018 Volkswagen on the 1800 block of Spruce Street around 7 p.m., Philadelphia police wrote in a release. The Volkswagen then hit three parked cars before coming to a rest, police continued. An 11-year-old girl was hospitalized after she was struck by a car while riding her bicycle. The unnamed girl was wearing her helmet when the 2008-2012 silver Honda Accord struck her in the 6400 block of Brodbeck Road, Manheim Township on Feb. 8, 2023, at 6:37 p.m., Northern York County Regional Police Department, said the following day. Lehigh Valley Doctor Dies Weeks After Bicycle Accident, Coroner Says
A doctor in the Lehigh Valley has died three weeks after a bicycle accident, authorities said. Dr. Lorraine A. Dickey, 60, died Sunday, Aug. 28 at Lehigh Valley Hospital-Cedar Crest, Lehigh County Coroner Daniel A. Buglio said. Dickey died of complications from a cervical spine injury she suffered in the Aug. 8 accident on the 100 block of Robert Drive in Upper Macungie Township, the coroner said. Bicyclist Trapped Under Car In Harrisburg Dies
A bicyclist who became trapped under a car making a U-turn in Harrisburg died days later, authorities said. The unidentified cyclist was struck around 9:45 p.m. Friday, June 17 by a westbound car on Market Street, city police said. As the vehicle tried to make the U-turn, the westbound bicyclist struck the driver's side of the car and went under the vehicle, police said.
