Multi-Vehicle Crash Closes All Lanes On I-81 For Miles: PennDOT

UPDATE: Interstate 81 reopened just before 10 a.m., according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The cause of the crash appears to have been a tractor-trailer fire, but the exact details including any word on possible injuries has not been released.

ORIGINAL:

A multi-vehicle crash caused serious delays along Interstate 81 in central Pennsylvania during Thursday morning's commute.

The crash occurred in the northbound lanes between Exit 37: PA 233 - Newville and Exit 44: PA 465 - Plainfield-- closing all lanes of traffic, according to the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation.

The crash happened around 8:20 a.m., according to PennDOT.

The closure was estimated to last approximately an hour,  according to Pennsylvania state police.
