PA Man Paid $1.8Mil For SNAP Benefits

A Pennsylvania man has been charged by the US Department of Justice for paying people cash in-exchange for SNAP benefits.

Jimmy Tran, 40, of Harrisburg who owned and operated Asia Market in Harrisburg, illegal gave customers cash in exchange for the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, also known as SNAP benefits, between Jan. 2017 and Aug. 2020, according to the US DOJ.

The value of the SNAP benefits during that time surpassed $1.8 million.

His preliminary hearing is pending.

If Tran is found guilty he would face a maximum sentence of 20 years in federal prison.
