Former Wildwood Mayor Admits To Healthcare Fraud, NJ Attorney General Says
A former mayor of Wildwood admitted to his role in a healthcare fraud scheme that stole more than $600,000 in government funds, authorities said.
Peter Byron, 68, pleaded guilty to three charges on Friday, Sept. 27, Attorney General Matthew Platkin said in a news release on Monday, Sept. 30. Byron resigned as mayor in September 2023 after he was indicted in the case.

Milford Man Solicited Child For 'Explicit Photos', Police Say
A Milford man was recently charged for soliciting explicit photographs of a child, police announced on Saturday, Sept. 28.
Rashaad K. Taylor, 28, of Milford, was arrested in Pike County, on Sept. 20, according to the police.
The arrest comes following an investigation into alleged unlawful contact with minors, the Slate Belt Regional Police Department said. During the investigation, Taylor's home in Milford was searched and explicit photographs of a minor were found. A Hazleton woman's death was the result of a house fire, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office announced on Monday, Sept. 30.
Lisa R. Thompson, 59, was pronounced dead at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest on Sunday, Sept. 29, according to the coroner. The cause of death is listed as Inhalation of Products of Combustion due to House Fire. The coroner ruled the death accidental.

A schoolgirl was the victim of a strong-armed robbery while she was waiting for her bus in Cheltenham Township, the police announced on Friday, Sept. 27.
The girl was waiting for a school bus on Asbury Avenue when a black Kia sedan approached her, the Cheltenham Township Police Department explained. A man in the vehicle called the girl over to the car, threatened her, and grabbed her cell phone from her hands.
