A 48-year-old woman died at the scene of a two-vehicle crash that sent the vehicles into fields on opposite sides of the road, authorities explained on Monday, July 1. Ilana Abugov of Bradford Drive in Leola, was alone in her car when she was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Peters and Shirk roads in East Earl Township around 5 p.m. on Thursday, June 27, according to the coroner's release and a release from the Garden Spot Fire Rescue. A 59-year-old man was struck dead walking to his mailbox on Friday, according to a release by the Pennsylvania State Police on Monday, July 1. Troy A. Truax of Waynesboro was in the area of 8556 Hades Church Road, Antrim Township when he was struck by a 2015 Ford driven by Thomas M. Michalsky, 25, of Greencastle, PSP Chambersburg Trooper Antoniette Cross detailed in the release. Troopers were driving south on Christopher Columbus Boulevard responding to a separate incident around 1:30 a.m., authorities said. A man and a woman are hospitalized after an early morning wreck on Route 322, Downingtown police say. A silver Honda Fit and a white Chevrolet Equinox collided on the 600 block just after 8 a.m. on Wednesday, June 12, authorities said. Both were taken to Paoli Hospital Trauma Center while Route 322/Brandywine Avenue was shut down for more than three hours. The crash remains under investigation and anyone who witnessed it is asked to call 610-269-0263 or email traffic@downingtown.org.

Sen. John Fetterman Involved In Maryland Car Crash
Senator John Fetterman's office said he and his wife Giselle were in a two-car crash on Sunday morning, June 9. Maryland State Police said it happened in the westbound lanes of Interstate 70 at Interstate 68 in Hancock. Fetterman was driving a Chevrolet Tahoe that struck the rear of a Chevrolet Impala "for unknown reasons," troopers said. Jennifer Friedel-Hoffman, a 60-year-old Pennsylvania resident, was killed in a crash on Route 78 in New Jersey on Wednesday, May 29.
