On Wednesday, Aug. 28, at about 10:30 a.m., Philadelphia Police responded to a person screaming inside an apartment on the 5400 block of Lansdowne Avenue, in the 19th District. A 40-year-old man was shot at by a male offender, and then the female offender set the victim on fire, causing burns to his body, police said. Chop Doctor Killed In Philadelphia Crash The bicyclist who died in a crash on Wednesday, July 17, was a doctor at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, according to police and the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia website.  Barbara Ann Friedes, 30, was struck from behind by a 2018 Volkswagen on the 1800 block of Spruce Street around 7 p.m., Philadelphia police wrote in a release.  The Volkswagen then hit three parked cars before coming to a rest, police continued. Man In Wheelchair Badly Hurt In Hit-Run Crash In Philadelphia, Police Say A man in a wheelchair was badly hurt after being hit by a runaway driver early Friday, June 21, Philadelphia police say.  The victim was struck near Vine and Franklin streets minutes after midnight, authorities said in a release.
