Armed Person Takes Own Life After Standoff: Lehigh County DA A person died after shooting themself during a police standoff in Upper Saucon Township early Thursday morning, March 20, authorities said. Upper Saucon Township Police said officers responded to a 911 call at 12:48 a.m. reporting a home invasion and gunshots on the 4800 block of West Hopewell Road in Center Valley. When officers arrived, they found an armed individual outside the home. After more than 30 minutes of negotiations, the person shot themself, police said.
