Strengthening Storm To Bring Bursts Of Snow, 50 MPH Wind Gusts, Power Outage Risk A strengthening Alberta Clipper system will produce intense bursts of snow and strong winds with gusts up to 50 miles per hour, which could cause power outages. According to the National Weather Service, the storm will occur from Wednesday night, Dec. 4, into late Thursday morning, Dec. 5.  Powerful gusts will accompany wind speeds of 20 to 25 mph throughout the day and into Thursday evening. (See the first image above from AccuWeather.) Storm Downs Power Lines, Closes Roads In Lehigh, Northampton Counties (Developing) Area police reported scattered outages as wind and rain pulled down power lines. Lower Saucon Township police reported that Lower Saucon Road was closed between Woodland Road and Woodland Hills Court due to a tree down on power wires. Upper Saucon Township police reported that Oakhurst Drive was closed between Stonesthrow Road and Old Bethlehem Pike due to utility lines across the roadway. The incidents were reported late morning on Friday, Aug. 9. Meanwhile, due to the severe weather, the Doylestown Township Administrative Offices closed at 2:30 p.m.

The remnants of now Tropical Storm Debby will move north along the eastern U.S. through Saturday, according to the National Weather Service. Bucks County first responders reportedly made nine water rescues overnight after up to 5 inches of rain fell. Eight of the rescues were in Bristol Township and one was in Bristol, according to county spokesman James O'Malley. Crash Shuts Down Lincoln Highway In Chester County: Police Authorities are responding to an accident on Route 30 in West Whiteland on Monday morning, June 17.  Route 30 is shut down east of Springdale Drive and some area residents have lost power, police said around 10 a.m.  The PECO outage map shows more than 100 customers in the area are affected. Service is expected to be restored by noon, PECO says.

Power Outage Closes Elementary School In Allentown Allentown's Ramos Elementary School is closed on Tuesday, May 28 due to a power outage, district officials say.  Jackson Early Childhood Center is also closed for the day, administrators said. No other Allentown schools are affected by the outage.  According to the PPL outage map, the issue was caused by a tripped breaker or blown fuse. Crews have been dispatched to make repairs and PPL said they hope to restore power by 3:30 p.m.

The NWS said tornadoes, heavy rain, and wind gusts up to 65 mph were possible through 9 p.m. The first round of storms came early Monday morning, May 27.  National Weather Service As of press time, more than 600 Bedminster, NJ residents were without power, according to JCP&L. It was not immediately clear if that outage was caused by the storm, though. Downed Pole Causes Power Outage, Detours Traffic In Allentown: Police A utility pole is down at North 15th and Utica streets in Allentown, police said Friday morning, May 17.  Authorities said it happened around 6 a.m. A power outage is affecting residents of several blocks nearby and PPL is on the scene, police said. Drivers are being asked to avoid the intersection until further notice.  Police said they will issue an update when the intersection is clear.
