Gunman Hid In Neighbor's Basement After Allentown Shooting: Authorities
Shots were fired during a domestic dispute at an Allentown home Friday morning, July 26, according to city police. It happened on the 500 block of North 13th Street around 8:45 a.m., authorities said in a release. Police made their way inside the home and found "evidence of recent gunfire," but the suspect had fled the scene, officials wrote. Fentanyl, Ecstasy Seized In Allentown Drug Bust: Police
A kilogram of fentanyl and more than 300 tablets of ecstasy were confiscated during an arrest in Allentown on Friday, July 19, authorities said in a release. Officers were investigating on the 800 block of Chew Street when they took 50-year-old Tyrone Fowler into custody, APD said. The drugs were found on Fowler's person after his arrest, according to officials. Fowler, of Philadelphia, was charged with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and related counts, authorities said. Support is on the rise for the family of a 14-year-old Allentown girl who died unexpectedly last week. Gabriella "Gabby" Velazquez, a rising sophomore at Allentown Central Catholic High School died on Thursday, July 11, according to her obituary on the Schantz Funeral Home website. As of press time, more than $6,500 had been raised on a GoFundMe for her family launched by Sarah Kleppinger. Bethlehem Dad Of 7 Drowns Tubing Lehigh River In Allentown: Coroner
For at least the second time this month, a man has died while tubing in the Lehigh Valley, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. This time it was a father of seven children, a family friend told Daily Voice. Antwan D. Daring, 35, of Bethlehem, drowned in the Lehigh River near Waterfront Drive in Allentown on Monday afternoon, July 15, officials said. An Allentown Catholic high school has announced the death of one of its students. Gabriella "Gabby" Velazquez, a rising sophomore at Allentown Central Catholic High School died suddenly, the school announced on Friday, July 12. A cause of death was not provided. World Cup Easton, an area cheer squad, said Velazquez was "a vibrant, loud, positive light." "She always kept you smiling and laughing. If anything in this world made Gabby happy, it was cheerleading. Her dream was to compete at Worlds and last year, she achieved that goal." Services have not yet been finalized.

Crews Respond To Back-To-Back Fires In Bethlehem
City fire crews were at the scene of two blazes in Bethlehem on Tuesday, July 9, officials said. The first fire broke out on East Broad Street and reached two alarms before being brought under control, firefighters wrote in a statement Wednesday. An Allentown man faces homicide charges for the February killing of Miguel Dalmasi, prosecutors announced Tuesday, July 9. Roberto Gonzalez, 25, is also charged with reckless endangerment and weapons offenses, according to the Lehigh County District Attorney's Office. Crews Battle Blaze In Allentown
First responders were called to an apartment building in Allentown for a three-alarm fire on Monday evening, July 8. The blaze broke out on the 1100 block of Hamilton Street around 5:30 p.m., said firefighters. Crews were still on the scene as late as 10:30 p.m., according to city fire officials. An Allentown police officer was taken to an area hospital with minor injuries after a suspect resisted arrest on Wednesday, July 3, according to city officials. Authorities have released additional details in the Interstate 78 crash that shut down a large stretch of the highway on Monday, July 1. The multi-vehicle wreck happened near mile marker 31 in Hamburg, state police said in a release. A tractor-trailer was headed west in a work zone when it hit the center concrete barrier, troopers said. US Air Force Member, Dad Killed In PA Motorcycle Crash, Fund Says
Edgar Guadarrama Jaimes, a Coopersburg father and husband, died in a motorcycle accident last Wednesday, June 26, officials have said. He was 30. Guadarrama Jaimes was pronounced dead at the scene of the Interstate 78 crash, according to the Lehigh County Coroner's Office. Two other drivers involved in the accident were not injured.
