The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning at 12:34 p.m. on Friday in effect until 2:30 p.m. for Lycoming County. Gas Leak Closes Part Of William Penn Highway: Palmer Twp. PD (Developing) A major gas leak prompted evacuations in Palmer Township, authorities said. The incident occurred shortly before noon on Thursday, Aug. 8. Both lanes of travel on William Penn Highway were closed as a result of the leak between Stones Crossing Road and Sheridan Drive, police said. The evacuation covered an area of more than 100 yards, they said. Emergency services and utility company crews were at the scene.

'Hazmat Incident': Residents Evacuated On Multiple Philly Blocks, Police Say (Updated) A reported hazardous materials incident cleared multiple city blocks in South Philadelphia on Friday, July 19, according to authorities.  A possible neighbor dispute and a strong smell of bleach and ammonia were reported on the 1200 block of South 22nd Street around 11:15 a.m., city police said. All residents on the 1200 block of South 22nd Street, the 2200 block of Oakford Street, and the 2200 block of Latona Street were evacuated, according to PPD. Arsonist Set Fire At Lackawanna County Building: Investigators A Scranton man is charged with setting a fire at the Lackawanna County government building last week, according to city police.  Paul Howard Strope Jr., 35, is also charged with risking catastrophe and reckless endangerment, authorities said.  The 123 Wyoming Avenue fire started around 6:30 on Tuesday, June 26, Scranton police said.
