At least ten train cars derailed near Grace Street in Harrisburg on Saturday, Dauphin County emergency dispatch said. The derailment happened around 3:10 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16, as the train was traveling through the city, according to dispatch. Officials confirmed the incident did not involve an Amtrak train. A Norfolk Southern spokesperson said initial assessments indicate about ten cars derailed. “There are no reports of a hazmat situation or danger to the public,” the spokesperson said. A train derailed in Western Pennsylvania, leaving a street blocked and power out, Connellsville Mayor Greg Lincoln said on Thursday night, March 20. The CSX train carrying nine flatbed cars came off the tracks near the 300 block of North Water Street in Connellsville just before 9 p.m., officials said. Two of the cars landed on the roadway near Water and Peach streets, according to Lincoln. Norfolk Southern Train Derails In Bethlehem
Bethlehem city officials responded to a train derailment under the Hill to Hill Bridge on Friday afternoon, July 5, authorities said in a release. Four to five cars from the 125-car train derailed around 2:40 p.m., said the Fire Department in a release. "Two to three" of the cars derailed on the bridge over the Lehigh River and two others derailed on the tracks at the end of the bridge.
