Man Who Shot PA Police Officer After 30-Mile Chase Sentenced Up To 80 Years
A Pennsylvania man who shot a Monroeville police officer and led police on a 30-mile chase has been sentenced to up to 80 years in prison, Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli announced on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2025. Bruce Alvarado, 40, of Clairton, was convicted on all counts by a jury in June after a nearly week-long trial, prosecutors said. The second person killed in Monday’s deadly explosion at the U.S. Steel Clairton Coke Works has been identified as 52-year-old Steven Menefee of Clairton, the Allegheny County Medical Examiner’s Office announced. Menefee was pronounced dead at the scene after being pulled from the rubble Monday evening, officials said.
