Casey, who has served Pennsylvanians in public office for 28 years, announced his concession as the first count of ballots was completed, with the race decided by less than a quarter of a point.
“I just called Dave McCormick to congratulate him on his election to represent Pennsylvania in the United States Senate,” Casey said in a statement released Thursday, Nov. 21. “Pennsylvanians can move forward with the knowledge that their voices were heard, whether their vote was the first to be counted or the last.”
The senator highlighted his campaign’s efforts to ensure every eligible vote was counted, praising the work of election officials and his team’s mobilization of over 350 staff and 1,000 volunteers to assist voters with ballot issues across the Commonwealth.
“This work mattered,” Casey said, pointing to his team’s success in the courts to secure the counting of nearly 1,000 challenged ballots in Philadelphia.
Reflecting on his decades of public service, Casey thanked his supporters, campaign staff, and Senate team, while expressing gratitude to the people of Pennsylvania. “Every day I have served in public office, I’ve fought for Pennsylvania workers, children, seniors, people with disabilities, and our veterans,” he said.
Casey’s concession marks the end of a hard-fought campaign in what has become a key battleground state.
