An RV fire turned brush fire halted traffic on Interstate 81 near the Maryland and Pennsylvania state lines on Wednesday, authorities told Daily Voice. The RV's brakes caught fire near 14: PA 316 - Wayne Avenue around 2:27 p.m. on Oct. 25, Pennsylvania Department of Transportation Fritzi Schreffler explained. The fire quickly spread causing "about a mile's worth of brush fires," she said noting that the "RV was pulling a vehicle and they (were both) fully engulfed in flames." A "serious motorcycle crash" sent a rider to the hospital in "critical condition" and caused a closure along part of Route 441 in Lancaster County on Tuesday, police announced. The Susquehanna Regional Police, along with the Lancaster County Crash Team, were called to a report of a crash involving a vehicle and a motorcycle at 2420 Rt 441/River Road in Conoy Township at 6:38 a.m. on Oct. 24, according to a police release. A tractor-trailer driver has died after driving off Interstate 81 — onto the train tracks below, authorities announced Monday night. James C. Hayworth, 58, of Chatsworth, GA was trapped in his trailer after accidentally driving his vehicle off I-81 onto the train tracks below, the Pennsylvania State Police explained in a release the following morning. Nickolas Dewey, 47 of Christiana, was pronounced dead at 8:42 a.m. on Oct. 13, by the Lancaster County Coroner's office. The crash happened at the intersection of White Oak Road and Route 896/Georgetown Road at 6:30 a.m., according to LCWC.
