The purple and pink lights were visible due to a Solar Storm, or a Coronal Mass Ejection from the sun on Tuesday, Oct. 8 which arrived in the area Thursday. "I got a text from a friend about 30 minutes ago," said Joe Jenkins, of Poughkeepsie, NY, "so I ran out and looked due north. You couldn’t miss it." George N. Gekas, 88 of New Cumberland, passed away peacefully while surrounded by family. Gekas was born January 10, 1933 in Tzivas, Greece, as the eldest son of Nicholas George Gekas and Georgia Theodoropoulos Gekas.
