Falling Tree Kills 74-Year-Old Jacob Shank In Hanover: Coroner A 74-year-old man was fatally struck by a falling tree while working on a property in Hanover, the York County Coroner's Office announced on Thursday, Dec. 26 at 5 p.m. Jacob Shank was cutting and removing a tree with others on the 200 block of Hershey Heights Road when the tree collided with another, causing it to fall and strike him, authorities said. Shank suffered critical injuries and was transported to UPMC Hanover Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 3:08 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 19, according to Deputy Coroner Scott Pennewill. Sprint Car Racer Killed In Motorcycle Crash: York Coroner A 19-year-old sprint car racer has died in a crash — off of the speedway, officials announced on Monday, July 15.  Riley Emig of the 300 block of Protectory Road, Abbottstown, has died following a motorcycle crash into a pick-up truck towing a trailer, according to a release by the York County Coroner's Office. Riley was "traveling at a high rate of speed when he struck an F150 pick-up truck that had been pulling a trailer," as stated in the coroner's release. Man, 24, Drowns In Lake At Central PA State Park A 24-year-old man drowned in a lake located in a Pennsylvania State Park Saturday, York County officials said. The unidentified male was out with family on a pontoon rental when they all decided to swim close to the shore around 7 p.m. in Lake Marburg at Codorus State Park, York County Coroner Pamela Gay said. The victim was reportedly a good swimmer and was using a camera under water. His family realized he hadn't resurfaced, and so all went back in the waters to find him, Gay said.
