A Palmerton wife is accused of orchestrating a murder-for-hire plot that ended with her husband's fatal shooting in a Whitehall Township parking lot, Lehigh County District Attorney Gavin P. Holihan announced on Tuesday, Jan. 29.
Brenda Rodriguez, 51, was arrested on Monday, Jan. 28, and is being held in Lehigh County Jail without bail.

Amere Wright, 18, was identified as the suspected gunman who shot a 20-year-old man in the lower abdomen and hip at 1300 Chestnut Street around 9:25 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 26, authorities said.

A York felon admitted to killing a woman whose body was found in Harrisburg's Sunken Garden, marking another grim chapter in his violent history.
Brandon Martinez, 35, pleaded guilty to third-degree murder in the December 2022 death of 53-year-old Stacey Shannon. He was sentenced on Monday, Jan. 27, 2025, to 20 to 40 years in state prison by President Judge Scott Arthur Evans in Dauphin County.
The sentence will run consecutively to a prior 3-to-6-year sentence for forgery, totaling up to 46 years of incarceration.

Bessie Watson, who suffered from cognitive decline, was last seen by her daughter around 2 p.m. at their home on the 1700 block of Georges Lane in Wynnefield, according to Philadelphia police.
