Two teenagers were hospitalized after a shooting at the Creekside South Apartments in Lancaster Township on Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2024, according to the Manheim Township Police. Officers responded to the 1500 block of Passey Lane at 6:23 p.m. after reports of a shooting, arriving one minute after being dispatched by Lancaster County-Wide Communications, police said in a release. A woman who had only been in the Allegheny County Jail for one day has died, officials announced on Saturday, Sept. 14. The unidentified 53-year-old woman passed away following a "medicinal incident" less than 24 hours after entering the jail, Acting Warden Shane T. Dady said. The woman was still in the Allegheny County Jail intake department when she passed. She was brought in on a felony possession charge on Friday, Sept. 13. Detoxing PA Inmate Dies 3 Days After Arrest: Authorities
A 60-year-old man going through a detox protocol died at the Allegheny County Jail on May 25, 2023, county officials say. The unnamed man was "brought in by a local police department on a bench warrant for retail theft for another county and booked on May 22," county officials explained in a release late on Thursday.
