A large fire that began in an Allentown row home and spread to two other buildings prompted one resident to cautiously jump out of a second-floor window, authorities said. Crews were called to the three-alarm blaze on the 1500 block of Liberty Street around 9:45 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 19, Allentown Fire Capt. John Christopher said. Man Hospitalized After Falling Into Lehigh Valley River, Police Say
Emergency crews came to the rescue of a man who fell into a Lehigh Valley river on Thursday, May 19, authorities said. Allentown Police responded to Adams Island and found the victim submerged in the river just after 7:15 p.m., Police Chief Charles Roca said. Officers Kayla Balatgek and Andrew Gehringer immediately entered the river and removed the man from the water, where EMS crews began performing CPR, Roca said. Six people were hospitalized after a fire ravaged their family home in Allentown early Tuesday, April 19, authorities said. Firefighters arriving at the Washington Street row home around 6 a.m. found all three floors "fully involved in fire," Allentown Fire Captain John Christopher said. A bomb squad was called to an Allentown home after a roommate reported a man’s death, local police said. Benjamin Boehm, 39, was found dead in a home located at 1600 block of East Cedar Street on Sunday around 8:30 p.m., Lehigh County officials said.
