Toddler Killed; Mom And Suspected Drunk Driver Hospitalized: PA State Police
A toddler was killed and two adults were hospitalized after a DUI crash on Bernville Road (Route 183) in Penn Township, Berks County, early Friday morning, Jan. 3, Pennsylvania State Police said. The crash happened in the northbound lane of the 5900 block of Bernville Road, at 4:59 a.m. on, PA State PoliceReading detailed in a release. Drunk Central PA Man Who Struck Dead Woman In Crosswalk Turns Himself In, Police Say
Over two months after Emily Compton was struck dead the man accused of hitting her has turned himself in, authorities announced on Thursday, Nov. 2. Douglas Lee Gibb, 64, of Carlisle turned himself over to authorities at Magisterial District Judge Birbeck's office on Oct. 30. Emily C. Compton, 72, also of Carlisle, was two blocks from her home when Gibbs struck her in the crosswalk on Hanover Street at the intersection with East South Street at 12:36 p.m. on Aug. 29, police explained.
