Damian Ray Bradford, 41, of Pittsburgh, has been identified as the shooter according to an updated release by Pennsylvania state police.

The trooper was called to a report of an armed man at a mini-market on 402 Franklin Avenue, Aliquippa, just after midnight according to a release by Pennsylvania state police.

As soon as the trooper and their partner entered the store the man shot at them— striking one trooper in the leg, the release details.

The trooper was flown to Pittsburgh Hospital for minor injuries, police say.

Bradford has been arrested thanks in part to patrons at the store where the trooper was shot, according to the police.

He previously pleaded guilty and was sentenced to 17 and a half years in jail after Donna Moonda hired the previously convicted drug dealer to kill her 69-year-old urologist husband, Dr. Gulam Moonda in May 2005, court records show.

He was in his first of five years of probation during the shooting, according to the conditions of his October 2021 release.

Bradford remains in police custody in Beaver County where he awaits arraignment for this police shooting.
