Austin Hogue, a co-owner of Dottie’s Family Market in Dover, was life-flighted to the ICU on Saturday, March 22, after the crash, according to his wife and family friends.
“Austin is under sedation and has made huge strides in his recovery,” the family said in a Facebook post shared by Dottie’s on March 23. “He is now able to squeeze a hand on command and is fighting to open his eyes.”
Hogue suffered a traumatic brain injury, along with broken ribs, a broken hand, clavicle, and shoulder blade, his family said. His vitals and swelling are “stable and continue to improve.”
“We serve an amazing God that can do miracles,” the family wrote. “Austin is not home free, but he is definitely heading in that direction.”
A GoFundMe started by Keziah Loht to support the family with medical costs raised $2,700 as of Tuesday, April 1. The fundraiser asks for continued prayers for Hogue’s healing, and strength for his wife Jackie and their young sons, James and Jett.
“God still does miracles and we are believing in one for Austin’s body,” the page reads. “Thank you for blessing them!”
