Support is swelling for a Pennsylvania family whose summer road trip ended in a devastating crash that claimed the life of a beloved wife and mother of four.
Gina Alvarez Dela Cruz, 42, of Stroudsburg, was killed on Monday, June 30, when the minivan she was riding in was struck head-on by another vehicle that crossed the median on Route 13 in Accomack County, Virginia.
The crash, which happened near Parks Road around 12:30 p.m., also left nine people injured — including Gina’s husband, four children, and in-laws, Virginia State Police said.

A Lancaster County woman was killed in a car crash earlier this week at a busy intersection in Pequea Township, according to the coroner.
Patricia Wenzel, 79, of Manor Township, died on Sunday, June 16, 2025, after being transported from the scene of a motor vehicle collision at Long Lane and Marticville Road, the Lancaster County Coroner’s Office said.

A central Pennsylvania woman died after crashing into a brick wall, crossing into traffic, causing multi-vehicles to collide, before striking a vehicle head-on, according to a release by the York County Coroner's office.
Rebecca Shingleton, 65, of the 300 block of Stonewood Road in Springettsbury Township, was driving west along the 3200 block of East Market Street when she lost control of her car on Monday around 1:24 p.m., according to the release.
